At Bristol Airport, check-in staff
mind the business of the machine.
A woman who sounded European
watched me as I weighed my bag,
attached the departure label
and put it on the belt.
It wouldn’t move, so she gave it a push.
But the Irishman at Departures
seized my boarding pass
and scanned it himself.
